About Crowbar

Or more than you ever wanted to know about an icon of noone's generation...

The character Crowbar originally appeared in a friend of mine's, Trey Tackett, webcomic, as a representation of me along with other representatons of people. I've used the name online since late middle school (As a horrible pun to the name of my favorite character on "Mystery Science Theater 3000"), but I never actually did anything with it. When asked for something to use in the comic, I searched Google Images quickly, found a crappy sprite of the Crowbar from Deus Ex and sent it to him. Hilarity ensued. Somewhere down the line, he was actually drawn. From the drawing came the eyes supplied by another friend, Tanuki, and his power level was increased ten fold. Somewhere along the way, I drew my own version with a mouth and the thing I doodled most in college was born. Yay!

Crowbar basically appears whenever boredom occurrs, usually talking about the subject that is causing said boredom. Provided I have the time and someone willing enough to draw it, I have a one-shot comic issue planned... But that is a topic for another day!

Contrary to popular belief, he is not on speaking terms with Gordon Freeman anymore.

About the Site

This site has been developed completely from the ground up by John using PHP, MySQL, and a lot of notepad. The idea was to create a personal site that would not only be easy to maintain, but involve as little editing of the original files as possible once completed. Sure, there are third-party tools he could have used to do the same thing, but that takes all the fun out of it! Mostly, he's happy about getting a variation of Crowbar done in pure CSS alone.

The site is also designed to be very dialup-friendly and to work in most browsers. Having suffered through 14.4 kbps connections in an age where an ocean of people tsunamis you with YouTube links for videos that aren't even funny, I understand the pain all too well. Hopefully this site won't cause you that sort of grief.
